Vow Renewals

Marriage can be the most wonderful and enriching relationship, and the celebrating of a milestone anniversaries warrants a celebration. In the course of my celebrant work I conduct many funerals, and am reminded over and over again, just how valuable a solid marriage is. It delights me to see couples go the distance. It never ceases to warm my soul, when a couple celebrates 30, 40, 50,60 years together.

I don't know what it is about women, but a lot like to spring the idea of a Vow Renewal ceremony on their husbands. They can be tricky things to script, but what a lot of fun we have had when this has happened - talk about dignity and laughs. Like a 10th anniversary gathering in a restaurant with family and friends. Or a couple on holiday, the wife planning secretly by email for me to be at a certain place at a certain time with a bottle of champagne and a simple but meaningful ceremony where husband and wife can renew their vows. Very heart-warming! Or it might be a full-on fully-discussed ceremony with children standing in as attendants - and the bride wearing her original wedding dress and a full sit-down wedding 'breakfast' to follow.

A couple might like to renew their vows after successfully negotiating some pretty turbulent waters - for whatever reason, but re-affirming and reinforcing their commitment for the next umpteen decades.

However you wish to go about it - whether its all dignity, all fun, or a nice balance of both, I can put something together with you, and enjoy the fact that your love and belief in your union, remains.

In 2012 my wife Christine and I will celebrate our 40th Anniversary, and we are bound to plan something to renew our covenant, our belief in each other and in our being together, and give thanks for all we share.

I would be delighted to help you do the same.
